Prior to launching his solo career, Stapleton fronted The SteelDrivers, whose achievements include recognition by the International Bluegrass Music Association as Emerging Artist of the Year. Immediately after the CMA Awards, sales of his debut album, Traveller, rocketed from 2,350 to 153,428 — an increase of more than 6,000 percent — and topped both the Billboard 200 and Country Albums charts for two consecutive weeks.
