Nashville, TN (March 25, 2021) – Building upon the first season’s successful blend of unfiltered conversations and witty stories about Nashville’s music industry, the podcast “Shady Ladies of Music City” returns with the launch of season two today (March 25), as hosts Evelyn Shriver and Susan Nadler welcome country superstar Martina McBride as the season’s first guest.

Listen to the full episode featuring McBride HERE.

McBride joins Nadler and Shriver to swap stories and laughs, chatting about everything from McBride’s musical beginnings in her family’s band in Kansas, to her role as the super chef during the pandemic. They also discuss the ongoing fight for women to be heard at country radio and McBride’s role in the “tomatogate” controversy.

Under the theme “Shady Ladies of Music City: Behind The Curtain,” the podcast’s second season finds Shriver and Nadler welcoming artists and music industry titans including McBride, Lorrie Morgan, The Mavericks’ Raul Malo, attorney Joel Katz (known for representing artists including Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake) and renowned talent agent Tony Conway. More special guests are expected to be announced soon.

“Our first season of Shady Ladies had no guests, just our stories and recollections,” says Nadler. “This season we pulled back the curtain to answer some listener questions about the movers and shakers, the big wig career makers who actually run the music business –attorneys, agents, performance royalty reps and how they make the business turn from day to day.”

“All of our guests are superstars in their fields. Our friendships are 20 or 30 years old and that comfort level is apparent in our conversations,” Shriver adds. “We hope that it gives listeners a glimpse into who these people really are. They are ‘big deals,’ but they are also funny, sweet and down to earth.”

Nadler and Shriver launched “Shady Ladies of Music City” in 2019 to share their experiences from decades working in publicity and management. Shriver and Nadler each led high-level public relations and/or management careers representing legendary musicians before joining forces in 1998 to become the first female executives to lead a major country music label in Nashville, with the launch of Asylum Records.

About “Shady Ladies of Music City”

When Susan Nadler and Evelyn Shriver arrived in Nashville, no one, including themselves, could have predicted the path they would forge. In a matter of only a few years, these two women infiltrated, and subsequently flipped on its head, the Nashville music industry in the 1980s and 90s. Eventually becoming the first women ever to helm a major Nashville record label, Asylum Records, Susan and Evelyn demanded a seat at the table that was largely made up of men. Along the way they catapulted the careers of legendary artists like Randy Travis and Tammy Wynette, smoked weed with Willie Nelson, were named honorary pallbearers at George Jones’ funeral, one got arrested in Mexico while the other went roller skating with Cher, and both largely ignored the advice of every one of their male counterparts that came before. Now, they are bringing those backstage stories and unbelievable moments, with a substantial amount of unexpected, sometimes brutal, honesty, to their podcast “Shady Ladies of Music City.” Equal parts music, comedy, and female empowerment, “Shady Ladies of Music City” is a tell-all podcast recorded and produced in Nashville, TN and brought to you by Monument Records.
