NASHVILLE, TN (April 17, 2024) – Color Me Country Radio with Rissi Palmer, the trailblazing show on Apple Music Country, is set to air a special episode titled "My Black Country" on Saturday, April 20th at 11pC/12pE. Hosted by Grammy-nominated recording artist, Rissi Palmer, the show will feature a lineup of esteemed guests including New York Times best-selling author, professor and songwriter, Alice Randall, as well as Fiona Prine and Ebonie Smith.


Randall will be offering insights from her newly launched memoir, My Black Country: A Journey Through Country Music's Black Past, Present, and Future, and its accompanying LP, My Black Country: The Songs of Alice Randall, which comprises a compilation of her most cherished songs. Notably, the album stands out for its inclusion of an all-Black ensemble of female artists, marking a pivotal moment in the history of Country music.


Prine will discuss the role that Oh Boy Records had in bringing this project to fruition, emphasizing the honor she felt in being part of such a groundbreaking endeavor. Additionally, Smith, the producer on the record, will delve into her profound connection to the lyricism of Randall's songs.

Reflecting on the spirit of the episode, Randall remarked, "I feel like I'm working from the bosom of a badass black family. And I am enjoying us having a family picnic. We are having the barbecue.
